Cape Point

Cape Point has so much to offer:

Great swimming spots, picnic sites and walks at the Bordjiesrif and Buffels Bay tidal pools.

Walk the shipwreck trail to view a few of the remaining shipwrecks around Cape Point.

Take part in a range of exciting outdoor activities, such as hiking along a wide variety of scenic and overnight trails through natural fynbos and along sandy beaches, sea kayaking and mountain biking. Cape Point launched a free Audio Tour; the audio tour shares fascinating information about the national park’s maritime history, fauna, flora, Cape Point legends and the funicular. It is geared for guests on a tight schedule, as well as those who would prefer a more leisurely stroll. V&A Waterfront

The Historical Walking Tours journey begins at Chavonnes Battery Museum, the harbour’s oldest heritage site. The tour then winds its way from Clock Tower Square visiting many points of interest. Learn more here.

Groot Constantia

Explore the vast estate on foot, there are numerous walking paths, and joggers are welcome to enjoy the surrounds.

Table Mountain Cableway

Hit one of three hiking trails that start at the Upper Cable Station and explore the summit further. Table Mountain is part of a World Heritage Site, an important part of the Cape Floristic Region and the single richest floristic area in the world. There is a lot of fynbos vegetation on the mountain, with over 1 460 different species of plants. There are also plenty of dassies, lizards, insects and birdlife to be seen.

Thirty-minute guided tours happen on the hour from 09:00 to 15:00 daily, departing from the Twelve Apostles Terrace (below the Café). These are free, family-friendly walks conducted by our staff, who will share the story of Table Mountain and the Cableway, and provide any assistance you may require.

If you are feeling adventurous, you could abseil down a cliff face with Abseil Africa.

Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden

Walk among the treetops on the Boomslang Tree Canopy Walkway.

Take a gentle walk along the various trails, paths and routes through the garden.

Use Kirstenbosch as a starting point for a hike up Table Mountain – there is access to Skeleton Gorge and Nursery Ravine.

Take a guided tour with a Kirstenbosch volunteer to learn amazing facts about South Africa’s famous flora.
