One Point, A Million Points of View
There are few things as exhilarating as standing at the base of a beautiful, 150 year old lighthouse, perched precariously high above the swirling Atlantic Ocean, and knowing that you’re at the most southwestern tip of Africa. Knowing that the next closest landmass, when you look across the icy seas, is Antarctica – more than 4,000 kilometres away. The panoramic views that spread out before you are breath-taking. Literally, because you’ve just earned them with a final push up the final flight of stairs from the upper funicular station. And once you’re there, it’s impossible not to spend a few silent minutes taking in the gravity of the dramatic location, before you instinctively reach for your camera.

Best Short Walks in Cape Town
Cape Town is packed full of amazing walks. These range from a casual scenic or historical stroll, through to dramatic hikes and extensive treks. Here are six of the best.
Robben Island Museum’s 156 year old Lighthouse
Robben Island Museum (RIM) is home to an 18-metre high Lighthouse that was built in 1864 by Joseph Flack and is the only South African lighthouse to utilise a flashing light instead of a revolving light. It shines for a duration of 5 seconds every seven seconds and flashes white light away from Table Bay. The light is visible for 24 nautical miles.
