Kenneth Makatees, the SABC Western Cape Regional Manager said “As the SABC we are thrilled to be partners of this most beautiful race. It is a significant reminder to the world that two giants of the liberation struggle spent their first time together on Robben Island, sixty (60) years ago. We’ve come a long way as the people and as a country and this race gives us an opportunity to not only commemorate the icons of the struggle, but to celebrate the crucial role they’ve played in the transformation agenda. This race offers a historical tour about all the facets of the island. The SABC will be broadcasting the event live on TV, radio and various digital media platforms. Please do join us and experience what this unique event has to offer”.
