This is @heathfish posting for Smithsonian Magazine. The guys are tucked into a small cove catching their breath. I make one last photograph, then float for a minute, processing the chaotic rush we've just experienced. I'm thrilled with the adventure and relieved to have made this crazy shoot without incident. On the day this photo was taken, this humble motorcycle stood alone in the empty beach-side parking lot at Cape Point. Slowly, a lone man appeared on the distant horizon, traversing the vast, deserted beach and empty sand dunes to return to his trusty bike.
