OCTOBER 2022

A DAY WITH 4IAM

 

The 4IAM- The newest girl band in South Africa, offering a Township Pop (T-Pop) music, will be back at the V&A Waterfront for happy Fridays. Do not miss this exciting season with 4IAM gem. 4IAM isn’t just one of the most exciting and unique T-Pop acts coming out of Africa in a long time. It’s also a movement consisting of five girls who are leading the way for future generations with a clear message. Catch their performance on Friday, 25 October, from 17h00 – 17h30 at the Amphitheatre Stage and on Friday, 11 November, from 16h00 -16h30 (free to attend).

School of Rock House Band and Team Rock Concert

Come see top Cape Town musicians and music students entertain the V&A Waterfront crowd this Saturday. This is a massive highlight on the performers’ calendar each year. Be sure to show your support for Cape Town talent. Catch our future superstars on Saturday, 22 October, from 18h00 – 20h00 at the Amphitheatre Stage (free to attend).

BOATICA Cape Town

Previously known as the Cape Town International Boat Show, BOATICA Cape Town is Africa’s largest boating exhibition set against the backdrop of the beautiful Mother City. The event features manufacturers and buyers of luxury boats, accessories, and marine equipment, a once-in-a-lifetime Ultimate Yacht experience, 120 exhibiting companies, a variety of live on-water activities, and a luxury lifestyle exhibition for a premium shopping experience. BOATICA Cape Town is set to take place on Friday, 28 October – Sunday, 30 October, from 10h00 – 18h00, 09h00 – 18h00, and 9h00 – 4h00, respectively, at the North Wharf (outside the Aquarium).

Record & Music Fair

Swing by the V&A Record & Music Fair, a monthly gathering that is fast becoming a must for all vinyl junkies. Expect some serious crate digging and memorabilia shopping, with over 3000 vinyl records waiting to be discovered, as well as a great selection of CDs, music books, band merch, tees, and cassettes on sale. Amazing DJs will be on the decks. Don’t forget to tell all your vinyl-loving friends! Catch this month’s fair on Saturday, 29 October, from 10h00-14h00 at Watershed.

Diwali Festival of Lights

Diwali – The Hindu Festival of Lights is a community-led initiative that celebrates the values of peace, love and unity at a common platform by showcasing the cultural heritage, tradition, values, colours, sounds and positive energy in the Western Cape with diverse South Africans and international guests.

It is a celebration marking the triumph of good over evil. It’s a chance to reflect and reform, build bridges, and move ahead in the spirit of universal friendship. Be inspired by positivity on Sunday, 30 October, from 13h00 – 15h30 at the Amphitheatre Stage (free to attend).

Cape Town Philharmonic Youth Wind Ensemble Spring Concert

For nearly 20 years, the Cape Town Youth Wind Ensemble (CPYWE) has been amongst the foremost wind bands in the city, performing at community concerts and festivals under the direction of its conductor, wind band specialist Faan Malan. The CPYWE was formed, together with the Cape Philharmonic Youth Orchestra and the Masidlale grassroots programme, to shape the musical lives of talented young people, mainly from areas without access to music education. Many of its 60 members perform as ad hoc musicians in the CPO, paving the way for a career in music.

Enjoy a programme of popular music for the whole family with a performance by the full Youth Wind Ensemble, as well as solos played on flute, clarinet, saxophone, bassoon, trumpet, horn, trombone, and tuba! Experience a great introduction to wind instruments for all ages on Sunday, 30 October, at 16h30 at the Amphitheatre stage (free to attend).

Silo Concerts

The V&A Waterfront Silo Concert Series is back for another great edition. With summer in the air, picture a beautiful sunset peeking behind the incredible Zeitz MOCAA Museum as your backdrop with a gentle ocean breeze blowing up from the west, and you have the perfect setting for a beautiful concert.

The Silo District Concert series, which started in the Summer of 2017, has grown with absolute success with full houses and memorable events. Come down to the Silo District at the V&A Waterfront this Summer on the first Friday of every month at 18h00 and be a part of something special (free to attend).

The Grade Market Day powered by YOCO is aimed to create a platform for aspiring local fashion brands. The event will take place on Saturday, 5 November, from 12h00 – 17h00, at the Battery Park field at the V&A Waterfront. Come through with the whole family and enjoy the day (free to attend).
