In the news: Robben Island in partnership with the National Department of Tourism (NDT) will be hosting an Open Day on the 24th of September 2016 (Heritage Day). On the Day, RIM and NDT will be giving 1600 FREE tickets to locals for a return trip to the island.

Cape-Town-Big-7-Robben-IslandThe objective of the Open Day is to create awareness on the importance of preserving Robben Island as an iconic national and World Heritage Site. In addition to that, the Open Day is also fundamental in creating access for local communities and the cultural enrichment of South Africans.1---Robben-Island

The Open Day will also form part of Tourism Month celebrations. Locals will be treated to a ferry ride and a prison tour on the island.

Free tickets will be issued to locals through community radio stations, local newspapers and Non-profit organizations.
