In the News: September means spring and time to think about flowers, particularly our own indigenous flora. This year you can look at southern African flora through the eyes of our top botanical artists at the exhibition on at the Old Mutual Conference Centre, Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens from 17-25 September.
Entrance to the exhibition is FREE and is open to the public from 17th September 9.30am-5pm daily

The Botanical Artists Assoc. of SA (BAASA) presents a wonderful exhibition of contemporary botanical artwork called PLANT along with a separate section, called The Bug Room, full of insect illustrations.
Many of our local artists have achieved top honors overseas, gaining gold medals at the RHS in London, being included in The Highgrove Florilegium picturing plants from HRH Prince Charles’s Garden and shown at the Shirley Sherwood Gallery at Kew and the Royal Botanical Gardens in Sydney. Here is a chance to see works by these artists here at one of the most beautiful botanical gardens in the world. A whole new range of work by talented young artists will also be on display.
Gillian Condy, resident botanical artist at SANBI (The South African Biodiversity Institute) will be demonstrating scientific botanical painting at the exhibition, so you can see a master artist at work. Botanical artists will be available to discuss works and show visitors around. This is an opportunity to collect original artwork and buy prints and cards.
