The first set of cable cars were basic corrugated iron carts with a maximum capacity for 25 passengers and they ran from 1929 until 1958.

The next set had windows and were made of metal and could take 27 passengers at a time.

The facilities at the top consisted of a small tea room and some chemical toilets.

Today the cable cars are revolving high tech wonders, carrying 65 persons and offering incredible 360-degree views.

The Table Mountain Aerial Cableway has welcomed over 25 million visitors since 1929.

In 2011 the cableway was voted one of the New7Wonders of Nature.

Apart from the breathtaking views, the top of the mountain now has world-class facilities.
