International Day For Biological Diversity – Be part of the plan!
22 May 2025
International Day for Biological Diversity is coming up on Wednesday, May 22, and all six of our amazing attractions offer the perfect chance to enjoy nature responsibly on this day: Cape Point – Table Mountain Cableway – Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden – Groot Constantia – V&A Waterfront – The Robben Island Museum.
This year’s theme, “Be part of the plan,” is an urgent call to action for everyone to stop the loss of biodiversity and support the implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. Take a journey with us to embrace the rich tapestry of nature and an opportunity to revel in the stunning landscapes of Cape Town.
Get ready to be part of the plan with Cape Town Big 6
Biodiversity is more than just a fancy word—it’s the foundation of life on our planet and supports human well-being in countless ways. But with its rapid decline, both nature and people are at risk. That’s why the International Day for Biological Diversity was established—to increase awareness and understanding of the threats facing our planet and to inspire everyone to take action.
The Cape Town Big 6 Attractions are committed to doing their part to protect our biodiversity. All six attractions have measures in place to reduce the impact on the environment and are always looking for ways to improve. We also know that our attractions are special because of the unique biodiversity that surrounds them – from the fynbos of Table Mountain to the wildlife of Cape Point, the botanical wonders at Kirstenbosch, and the world-renowned vineyards at Groot Constantia.
