Wine Lovers Unite With These Upcoming Wine Days At Groot Constantia
2023 – With International Sauvignon Blanc Day on 6 May, International Rosé Day on 23 June, and Groot Constantia’s birthday on 13 July, there’s no better time to visit. Enjoy a wine tasting or tour of the estate, and don’t forget to take in the stunning views of the surrounding vineyards.
Let’s toast to these special wine days at Groot Constantia!
International Sauvignon Blanc Day
This day falls on 6 May and is all about celebrating the green-skinned grape variety from the Bordeaux region of France. Despite its origin as an indigenous grape in South West France, Sauvignon Blanc has been cultivated globally, including wine regions in Chile, Romania, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa. Groot Constantia’s Sauvignon Blanc is known for its citrus and tropical fruit notes, making it a refreshing choice for a warm day.
International Chardonnay Day
Groot Constantia’s wines have a reputation for excellence, having been recognised as some of the best in the world. Notably, the Estate’s Chardonnay was awarded the top prize at the Chardonnay du Monde competition in France a few years ago, triumphing over 800 other entries from around the world. Mark your calendars for May 25th, when wine enthusiasts around the world celebrate International Chardonnay Day.
International Sommelier Day
On 3 June, we celebrate International Sommelier Day, recognising the invaluable service of wine stewards worldwide. Sommeliers are experts in selecting the perfect wine to complement your meal, a skill that is highly valued in the hospitality industry’s finest restaurants, so raise a glass to these food and wine masters who make dining out even more enjoyable.
International Drink Chenin Blanc Day
This day is celebrated on 18 June this year. In 2012, a group of American retailers and sommeliers initiated International Drink Chenin Blanc Day in ten U.S. cities. Four years later, the South African Chenin Blanc Association joined the campaign to bolster knowledge about this iconic grape variety. Although the original concept emphasised the suitability of Chenin for the Northern Hemisphere’s summer, South Africa’s many diverse terroirs provide the perfect environment for showcasing the many facets of this cultivar, making our country one of the largest producers of Chenin Blanc.
International Rosé Day
Celebrate International Rosé Day on June 23rd this year with a bottle of Groot Constantia Rose. This Rosé boasts a stunning shell-pink hue, and its fragrant nose highlights notes of strawberries, melons, and candyfloss. On the palate, the wine has a delightful fruit purity that lingers long after each sip.
Groot Constantia celebrates 338 years of wine making excellence
Groot Constantia’s 338th birthday on July 13th makes for an even more special reason to celebrate the iconic estate’s wine with these wine days. Don’t miss out on this unique opportunity to commemorate their legacy with some of the finest wines available.
