Time Out Market Cape Town has added an exciting chef-driven concept to their list with the inclusion of Bertus Basson’s famous De Vrije Burger. The chef is renowned for his dedication to traditional South African cuisine and locally sourced ingredients. He’s the proud owner of several successful restaurants, including De Vrije Burger, which creatively narrates the history, people, and cuisine of South Africa.
Chef Vusi Ndlovu’s MLILO concept at Time Out Market Cape Town celebrates Africa’s rich culinary traditions with a contemporary twist on the local favourite “shisanyama.” Each menu item pays tribute to different African countries and showcases Chef Ndlovu’s creativity and innovation. The braai concept celebrates the use of fire in the African food scene to create delicious meals.
Discover The Melting Pot Seafood, a dining concept that will take you on a culinary journey around the world. With a rotating menu inspired by Chef John Van Zyl’s travels, you can expect delicious dishes like Tuna Sashimi, Mixed Seafood Peruvian Ceviche, and Beer Battered Hake Sliders.
Unframed Ice Cream, founded by Yann Rey, is a true treasure trove of delectable and unconventional ice cream combinations. The flavours are always unique yet often feature a twist on classic favourites. What sets Unframed Ice Cream apart is its commitment to making small batches with real, sustainable ingredients and its dedication to maintaining the texture of its artisanal ice cream.
How Bao Now is famous for its delicious bao buns, and now the chefs, Matt Van Den Berg and Carla Schulze, are set to offer their much-loved dishes, as well as new and exclusive combinations that will only be available at Time Out Market Cape Town. On the menu, you’ll find the Cape Malay Crayfish Bao, a perfect blend of coconut and curry furikake with vadouvan XO, and the Wagyu Sando-Bao, featuring chilli crunch mayo, tonkatsu, and pickled cucumber.
In 2022, the renowned chefs, Chefs Peter Tempelhoff, Ashley Moss and Service and Beverage Director Jennifer Hugé, behind the Japanese-African restaurant FYN, opened Ramenhead, situated in the heart of the city below FYN. This unique ramen shop combines the fine-dining finesse of FYN with an edgy, playful atmosphere, resulting in a menu of delicious ramen bowls made with authentic ingredients – which guests will be able to indulge in at Time Out Market Cape Town.
Chefs Anwar Abdullatief and Yolani Abrahams will bring a halal fine-dining experience, Barakat, to Time Out Market Cape Town, featuring a Cape Malay-inspired menu. Diners can enjoy the unique and indulgent flavours of the Mother City and engage in a one-of-a-kind Cape Malay experience.
YARD has been a beloved part of Cape Town’s culinary scene since 2011. Now, they are excited to bring their famous pizzas and chicken wings to Time Out Market Cape Town.
